GOOGLE burns CO2 faster than the Airline Industry! Each search uses 2 Grams of CO2. EACH SEARCH wtf?!!!12 Jan
Did you know that EVERY Google search uses 2 Grams of CO2?

How does this much CO2 use really affect us?
Well it takes 7 Grams of CO2 to make a cup of coffee, based on the amount of power consumed to brew it. When you take the number of servers there are in the world being hosted for Google’s search network, the amount of actual energy consumed PER Google search uses up 2 Grams of CO2.
So does this mean that environment haters can just click away and the CO2 disappears? NO, but it does have a lot of significance when large, high traffic websites have bad interfaces and require users to spend more time doing searches on their sites (i.e. microsoft support, HP support) needlessly using up bandwidth and server processing power.
Are you part of the problem?
Is your website inefficient and helping? basically there are sites that offer -OPTIMIZATION to make the site load faster but they don’t get that it would also be good for SEO (Search Engine Optimization)…
This site sells the service, I guess the awareness is great, but I’m not sure how much I would pay for this when it could simply be an SEO campaign that focuses on optimizting code and simply hosting with environmentally conscious webhosts… read more here: CO2Stats.com
Interestingly, it seems those promoting Going Green, don’t realize just how much SEO and Optimizing for efficiency of power would really go hand in hand. Google REWARDS sites that load faster because is saves Google money (not because it saves the whales or the trees)
