Yeah, so I’m sick of using ‘Notes’ to import blog posts from Digital Vegetarian to facebook so I thought I would test this out.

We’ve been in Hawaii (Kauai Island) for a while now and at the Wappow Search and Social Conference. Here’s How they used Google Hangouts to let me watch Dennis Yu’s presentation while getting some work done at the hotel.

So thanks to the kind folks at Kauai.com Dennis and I got to go sailing in an actual race. It was pretty sick.

As many of my friends and online community members (facebook, twitter, linkedin, forums, etc) may know by now, I’ve recently made a life change from working 9-5 in an office everyday with lots of people around and being involved in day to day office issues, to working from a LAPTOP by appointment only.

Wow, what a relief. I can hang out with my mom and grandma without being rushed to get to Pearson to fly back to LAX anymore… Now that being said, I haven’t given up on working in the SEO Consulting Services industry, I just don’t do any private consulting and work for my current employer only. Just Google me if you need to know more.

As for Social media and Search engine optimization in 2011? You need to know that no matter what, never stop learning and by being able to travel as I am now, I can learn and go to different cities, meet with my clients and colleagues, visit twitter and search engine conferences and more. I have had the opportunity to speak at many industry events and its awesome to have the absolute freedom (no kids or anything yet!) to go where ever the heck you want, but simply check email as needed and access your laptop or even just use the phone to resolve client issues on the fly.

technology has really made my lifestyle of wanting to be able to ‘go on tour’ while working remotely a reality. now it is time to create the reason to go on tour! lol, moving to NYC this next week to work on the project that we are recording in September. Jay Ruston just mixed the new Anthrax album (go to http://anthrax.com and get it free!) and I can’t wait to get his ears on a new mix soon as soon as we get it developed. Technology and guitars will be interesting mixed with my knowledge of the Search Engine Industry. Hope to be at SXSW next year if possible… stay posted and never stop learning!

So what does this all mean, and if you were my friend, knew that I work in Social Media and SEO as an ‘expert’ in the field, what would you think if you saw these posts?

Bottom line?

It doesn’t matter as long as it is for real, and perhaps in the moment. I thought at the time that this was funny and wrote it…. its my blurting out of content on facebook and blogs that helps me clear out everything going on in the world today that I hear from many different media sources…mainly online however. Because I work online.

It’s interesting to think how your average Internet user probably doesn’t even know to capitalize it (The word ‘Internet’-do we still? …. nerds? hello.. don’t feel like looking it up…)

Well, what I’m eluding to here is that we may not be able to really think like many of the users due to our own experience. ‘What do you mean what’s a browser?’….. but think back to the very first time you heard some of those things and didn’t understand them at first… then think, now what if we never had computers or cared about them, how would one process that kind of information?

I would say that it’s ‘mumbo jumbo to me’ and pay for it to go away. Like they do.

Hmm, now if you went to google and the site said ‘Sorry not happening’ I think you’d probably stop using google.

Bottom line. NEVER GO DOWN.

I was on a machine that had Microsoft’s Bing set as the default search engine.. I figure okay, it should be similar to Google’s results… NOPE:

I did a search in a browser, got thrown into Bing by default and to my amazement, this is what I saw:

Wow. So I pinged it:

Yep it’s down.

Checked one more time before tweeting about it:

I was just finished with my blog posts about Facebook in 2011 and how SEOs can use it and other social media networks (such as LinkedIn and Twitter)

Facebook Pages – New Changes!

Just today I was editing something and saw my new facebook page updates.

As I had already made a facebook blog post on our corporate wpromote blog today, I thought I would write about this stuff here, as I’ve been given an opportunity to try out the new update which is slowly likely being rolled out.

Here is what my experience looked like as a page admin following the steps for the first time:

(this is the part about the new photo streams like in our regular profiles, but now for pages as well)

1) It is easier to have the same interface everywhere

2) Plus when people think the page IS a person (which will be the goal of page owners) they may be tricked into buying from them.

Filters are important. This is nothing new, but is all managed differently now.

Notification settings can now do much more. Essentially the pages feature now acts much like a regular facebook user and they have adjusted the controls to make it more intuitive and powerful.

It is important to note the changes to the old pages vs the new pages and that the static FBML application is being phased out and you will no longer be able to add it to pages.
