How To Get Rid Of Salesman

- With my mom’s help!

My mom is sharp. She’s a senior. She knows how to handle pesky salesman. I thought her advice was awesome.

Please pass these tips along to your family who can use them! It is a fun way to share something with your ‘less social media type’ family members.

Okay so this advice is for anytime someone comes to door or calls and tells them they need to sign up today for a special offer.

ADVICE TO GET RID OF PESKY PHONE AND DOOR SALESMEN – FOR SENIORS AND ANYONE ELSE!

Before I get into some of her awesome responses to get rid of them, here are some reasons why this is so important to pass along:

1. If someone is ‘just passing through’, they won’t be around if whatever you bought from them requires attention.
2. If a deposit is given, there is no guarantee they will ever return to do the work and likely they have changed their number and false business name.

SO: Never give them a deposit unless you know where the physical store is and have been there recently.

Mom’s suggestions:

These are great, and after reading them you’ll laugh to know that she won’t read this (unless at my sister’s!)

1. In response to a salesman answering a tough question with: “Just look at our website”, she says: ” I am one of the few who does not have a computer, so I won’t be doing that.”.

2. When they say ‘You Must Sign Today or The Deal Is Off’ – she says, “Oh I’m sorry, I no longer sign anything without showing it to my adult children first.” – That works very well. Often followed by ‘Goodbye’.

3. When people are ‘just in the area for a few days and can do your driveway tomorrow be wary as they won’t fix problems later and may use crappy materials…for the same price you could do you driveway yourself for years.

4. When they come and show you that your bill is way higher than it would be with them for the same heating services….my mom asks: “But that rate can change at any time, correct?”

then they stumble and she says: “No thank you, Goodbye!”
(well she’s nicer than that, often offers them a Cold drink and says, “I am not interested in buying anything from you but its very hot out today and you should be wearing a hat.”.

I miss home sometimes, but I definitely love LA!

So I saw a TV commercial for a book from ‘the green millionaire’ or whatever.

First of all its a BOOK with PAPER that comes from TREES. WTF.

Give me a FREE PDF and I’ll get on your stupid mailing list. Why do you funnel people to call unless you have a trained sales team of BULLSHIT that is trying to get people’s credit cards based on your ‘You Just Pay The Shipping And Handling’ then you PROBABLY get upsold on something else?.

I dare not even call. But if YOU do, please comment here on what they want (from folks who just want to make money).

I KNEW it was too good to be true when I went to the website to hopefully download some free ebook about ways to get “you car paid for for the rest of your life?” yeah right i can’t even get dental insurance that pays for anything.

The ‘As Seen on TV’ ad claims that you can go to the website and get it free.

FREE does not mean PAY.

If you give someone something, NUT the Hell UP and give them free shipping. You’re getting their information.

I just hate these companies who are all about bullshit. Not about the environment, preying on less web-savvy or business savvy dreamers.

So Dear Green millionaire….  I’m not a jerk just trying to get eyes based on your business. I will REMOVE and even LINK to you if you provide what you said you would on TV.

A Free Book that helps the environment.    BUT ON MY TERMS:   please post the entire book in .PDF format so we can all download it for free in exchange for our email addresses. That’s all you get.

Feel free to comment here and let us know why you cannot do that, but would rather PRINT books, wasting trees. I mean its not that printing a few books will WRECK the environment, but it is only necessary if you need to charge people to SHIP things… the digital model is better in the long run, but i guess that wasn’t part of your business plan… nor do you provide ANY online options such as ‘email feedback, twitter or facebook’. JUST a number where you call and ‘get sold’ by a trained scammer/sales team.

I’m not a ‘scam reporting website’ i’m just a regular internet user (well, a bit UBER) who wanted to get a free book but didn’t when i was asked to PAY for Shipping. either do free shipping (to get the physical address) or a free PDF download in exchange for an email address.

Anyone else have thoughts?
