So I have to say that on my first day back in Midland, Ontario for a nice June family visit, that I was surprised to see such crazy weather. Shortly I’ll post a video of the stuff that just happened but last year we had a tornado that was just reported about in this week’s local paper and how one year later, there are still lots of problems related to what happened here.

I posted a video, no one had power, so by posting it from Los Angeles and gathering photos and stuff, it ended up helping a lot of people quickly learn what happened and the level of damage and most importantly that no one was seriously injured. It was bizarre that we had an earthquake on the east coast on that same day. It was very minor, but kind of amusing as I often would receive phone calls every time CNN reported any type of quake anywhere in California…so I called home to ask if they felt it, obviously it wasn’t much…so my people back home started to catch on to how funny it is when you receive calls about quakes!

Persuasive Technology Encourages You To Go Green

- FRIDAY THE 13TH, 2010! or Yesterday, CNN Reported this great article about technology that ‘suggests’ at appropriate times, how to be more Green, more efficient and overall smarter in how you use whatever it is.

Just think, you can have cars that tell you how to drive more efficiently (there’s some now that have a little tree that gets greener when you are more efficient). There’s a section in the article about a company called OPOWER who can reward you for using less power than your neighbors.  There is another section about fitness, but I like the one about ‘medicine that glows when you need to take it’. The bottles have transmitters and can tell you what you are doing wrong with habits for taking it, just like the wifi enabled scales that can ‘tweet your weight’ either publicly (maybe for some 30 day challenge event or sponsored thingy) or privately.

Perhaps someday we will have our own ‘suggestions’ from a personal assistant AI driven robot!

Okay people, this G20 Summit causes a big mess everywhere it happens. The people who wear masks, dress in black and vandalized the local business do this everywhere they have the summits in the world, so this really is not about Toronto in any way, nor does it display Toronto Police issues. This is bigger than that, on the world order and the police here do the same thing that the UN has police doing when this takes place all over the world.

The protesters goals are to rally up the locals to start rioting and make a bold statement about their disapproval for the G20 conference.

The problem is that the police barricades are so widespread that the people AT the conferences are protected by the ‘bubble’ anyway and probably don’t watch the news about what happens during the G20. – However the rest of the world DOES. I guess their point is to discourage governments from allowing the talks to happen ‘in their country or city’.

Apparently although police DID use Tear gas, it was only used in the form of ‘individual tear gas pellets’ as opposed to tear gas canisters used to affect more that one person at a time.

TIM HORTONS on king st. must have been packed with onlookers when a huge “It was like the movie twister!” tornado ripped through this small town of 20,000 or so Canadians in cottage country just 90 minutes north of Toronto, (home of the LEAFS) Canada.

Earlier the SAME day, there was a very rare EARTHQUAKE in Ontario and Quebec. It was felt all over including Midland, which never gets quakes, they always tell me to come home from California to avoid the quakes!
