So today there was an announcement that Steve Jobs (CEO of Apple-> you know, the guys who make the iPhone and the Macbook Pros I rock with?) Just stepped down as CEO of Apple Inc.

Ironically just hours ago this happened.

I, my friends, have made a deal with the devil. Apple themselves…via a christian friend/fellow nerd to acquire an iPhone 5 the day it comes out.

Why does any type of IT service priced like England but only work like a 3rd world country? At least when compared to our southern counterparts.

I feel that in Canada our networks simply can’t handle what is now considered standard upload speeds throughout the big US cities. You can only pay for nothing more than 1 to 2 Mbps uploads anywhere and no 4G coming anytime soon?

No wonder Rogers is scared, they and Ma Bell should be if they want to compete. I’m sure they’re building it, but why not use Google’s Whitespaces plan while your at it? hmmm. So In The USA, I’m using an Android EVO 3D because its a DUAL processor, the fastest phone I’ve ever seen, and it shoots in 2d AND 3d with its two cameras.

Also has a front facing camera and can run Double Twist, and iPhone app that’s much like iTunes without ANY file restrictions. Sweet.

Let’s talk about something political, I’m not writing the news, I’m reporting it: I’m a Canadian living in the USA & Canada for work reasons. This offers us a digital technology perspective that’s a bit unique to both industries. For example, to understand why a client may sell well on different keywords in the USA as opposed to Canada. -> e.g. Someone wants a fun place for kids in Canada, searches a term. Someone in USA wants a daycare… perhaps…searches the same term. DIFFERENT Target market and will convert at a different rate due to population’s effect on web traffic in densely populated regions with different housing needs and divorce rates.

Now that all the reports have been rolling in, apparently one person broke their leg and no one (including Cheap Trick) was squished or trapped by the stage collapsing. This could have been disastrous for Ottawanians and for the event as a whole. Very Lucky People!

Here is a rather comical or funny YouTube video of the event, unfortunately the person with the camera ‘didn’t get the shot’ but it’s a good ‘live feed’ of what happened. I would have filmed it in 3D lolz.

So I turn on @KROQ this morning on my way to @Wpromote and I hear that some magazine called ‘Total Guitar’ (notice how they got no ‘link love’) has come up with a top 10 list of the best ‘guitar riffs of 2000-2010′. I read Guitar World if I’m reading something, but I am open to new things -> Simply haven’t heard of this one and many guitar tablatures/lessons/etc are available online, and even on some of MY sites.

‘Best guitar riffs?’ How about ‘Relevance’.   Like I just saw this thing on TV about ‘Rush’. I’m not a super fan of them, but as some of the artists responded, ‘Rush was still relevant’ to the scene because they showed that you could do something way out in Left Field, and if you bust your butt at it, people will connect with you organically.

So… here’s that list! of the Top 10 so-called Best Riffs!

Some interesting Jurassic News: I was in Kauai this past week at Search and Social W00t! where I was listening to Dream theater while driving around with @googleandblog and @efishkin (shown here below the jeep video one of what I like to call the ‘evanosaurus’)

Now I thought this was weird, but I guess I forgot about new albums in 2010 or something…

Now I play 3 John Petrucci guitars from ernie ball. But I also play my Gibson as my main guitar now.

The Waving Pirate Flag of today’s modern day pirates the Sea Shepherds, now includes an amazing story about Pete, the captain of the Adi Gil, a ship named for the sponsor of it(owner) who was in the room for this story:

I brought Captain Crunch (John Draper) to the Long Beach Aquarium to meet up with Paul Watson and find out more about what happened to the man who was captured by the Japanese and is awaiting sentencing: In this video (made on Sunday April 11th, 2010 by myself and the Crunchman) Paul explains how the Japanese will find Pete guilty and sentence 30 years in jail, then deport him, because ‘that’s how they do things’.

Here Paul explains how one of the laws that the Japanese are using have to do with the knife that Pete was carrying when he jumped aboard the Japanese whaling ship that arrested him and took him back to Japan.

In this heartfelt account of an encounter Paul had with whales, here he describes how he could sense when the whales knew what was actually going on between the humans. It is very interesting. Earlier Paul also talked about growing up in Eastern Canada and enjoying sharing a pond with beavers… just to have then disappear over the winter to trappers… he then started (as a boy) to trip their traps and thus this all began…

KRONiS

Well another one bites the dust. I am very sad to report that we lost 80s child/teen heartthrob Corey Haim. What’s bizarre is that I recently attended the premiere of his now final film, ‘American Sunset’. Canadian bombshell Angela Cullins played the lead opposite Corey in this film that was shot in New Brunswick last year. Angela is a friend of mine and I was invited to attend, so I have some more photos and video footage that I’ll be posting, but out of respect for Angela and Corey I am going to run it by her first. See photos at her photo page now from the Premiere of American Sunset.

I saw the film. It was really good. Hopefully it will have a big relaunch in his memory and help out some careers. At least something good could come out of a drug addiction. In this film he pretty much played himself. Well. Very well.

There’s some footage from the afterparty too and I have two bottles of ‘American Sunset Wine’ that just went up in value as I don’t drink wine.

A sad day in Hollywood.
